The Journey

Hey there, I'm Beverley—a mocktail enthusiast, food lover, avid traveler, and someone who cherishes quiet family moments. But this blog? It's all about my vision journey, which kicked off back in class 6. That's when I first found myself squinting at the board from the back of the classroom. My classmates thought I was just being weird, and I'd often close my eyes when talking—little did they know, I was just trying to cope.

Fast-forward to the day I finally saw an eye doctor. It was the usual eye chart test—look at the screen, guess the letters, yawn. But as the years went by, I kept moving to new cities, and my vision kept changing. The same routine: quick check, new glasses, and out the door.

In 2013, I finally told my doctor, "Hey, my lenses keep changing." She diagnosed me with astigmatism, and we went on our merry way. A few years later, I mentioned how weird the lights looked, and that's when she dropped the bomb: corneal topography. Enter my keratoconus diagnosis.

After that, it was annual checks, and I managed to keep my 20/20 vision with glasses. But in 2022, things started to shift, and my doctor recommended Crosslinking. By 2023, my vision had dipped to 20/50, and let me tell you—I was freaked out. But I took the plunge and went ahead with Crosslinking.

So, why start this blog? I wanted to build a community for those with the same diagnosis (and their loved ones). Honestly, there's so much I wish I had known along the way, and now I'm here to share it all—step by step.

On this blog, you'll get the inside scoop on my experiences with keratoconus, everything I've learned, and how I've managed everything from diagnosis to treatment. Plus, we'll dive into everything from coping strategies and doctor's visits to life beyond the lenses.

This is a space for all of us to connect. Whether you're just starting your vision journey or you've been at it for years, let's support each other. Do you have questions or concerns, or just need someone to talk to? I'm here for you. Let's uncover this journey together!
